: Tom,
: The snake river device seems a simple enough external sensor mount and will allow monitoring of holding and freshwater tanks. They use an external strip that adheres to the side of the tank. Tnak Tender is probably a more precise measuring system, but it is an internal pressure sensor that requires a bit mor installation savy.
: I believe that the rear holding tank is the smaller of the two. Since I daysail everytime I am at the boat, I routinely sailout five or so miles and macerate. However I use the forward holding tank and rarely the rear. Charcoal filters installed in the holding tank vent lines as proven a great solution in conjunction with "Odorlos". Occassionally, I do use the marina pumpout station. MDR is pretty good about keeping it sanitary and functional. While visiting Longbeach I discovered while they have multiple pumpout sites, they are all nasty and routinely broken. : I would like install a level indication measurement system on at least the aft holding tank. Has any one good experience with this measurement?
I sail an Islander 30 On The Chesapeake Bay and after a disaster of an over full holding tank installed a 4 inch diameter 2 foot long pvc pipe with parallel vinyl sight tube in the vent line. Strictly low tech, the vent is in plain sight of the head, when grey water appears in the sight tube I still have 2or3 flushes left. Ross
