Odor With Hot Water

Just got Catalina 42 (1990) last year from 1st owner, and have been trying to deal with very strong odor that permeates things when I turn on the hot water faucet (cold water is fine).

The water that comes out is quite clear from both hot and cold. My guess is that there's something in the hot water tank or old water? Have any of you had this problem, and if so o\how did you deal with it.
