That's exactly what I had, a crack in the larger tube near where the nipple is welded on. I was luckily enough to bring it to the place that makes those risers. After they cleaned it, they tried re-welding where the crack is. All the re-welding did is enlarge the crack. They (a welding place) said it can't be fixed as the SS is too thin. I believe them & bought a new unit. The unit was 5.5 years old, nearing it's life expectancy.

: On TOROA No 689 I also had a leak at the "Y". There was acrack in the metal where the small salt water feed tube jois the targer riser.

: There was a square flange with four bolts at the engine end and the hose clamps at the outlet end. You will need a new gasket for the flange but it is easy to remove the riser. I had mine welded and have done about 100 hrs with it since. I still have a small trace of salt but have tightened the clips again and am hoping that the welding is not at fault.
